Dear Mr.,
We are currently waiting for a reply from the ECB whether they will approve of withdrawing Nemea’s licence. We do not know when ECB will give a response to MFSA but it should not take much longer. However, if it is approved, then the Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS) of Malta will intervene and cover deposits up to a maximum of EUR 100,000 per depositor. No claim is required from you or any depositor. This is because, on the day of withdrawal of the bank’s licence, Nemea Bank will send us all depositor details of all its depositors and we will then effect payment to each depositor within 20 working days from this information provided. The DCS will provide compensation according to your deposit balance as the day of termination of licence, including any accrued interest, always up to a maximum of EUR 100,000.
I also highly recommend that you send Nemea Bank your updated information regarding your second bank account details with another bank. The bank has information on second account details of each depositor, which may be outdated . This is important because we will effect payment to that account, according to the information given to us by Nemea Bank on the day of the withdrawal.
We will also give further information on the DCS and the steps we will be taking, following ECB’s decision. Until then, if you are interested in more information on the DCS and what depositors are considered eligible then please visit our website http://www.compensationschemes.org.mt/pages/default.aspx.
