The Irish parliament hears the government on Catalan independence process
Denmark broke the wall Spanish diplomat and now Ireland has cracked a little. Today in the afternoon the Oireachtas ", the Irish parliament, received a delegation from the Government of Catalonia to have first hand information on the process of independence. The Secretary of Foreign Affairs and the EU, Roger Albinyana; Diplocat general secretary, Albert Royo; and the delegate of the Government in London, Josep Suárez, have appeared in a hall of parliament in a closed session to explain the path that Catalonia members of both chambers: the 'Dil' (lower chamber) and the 'Seanad' (Senate). MPs had virtually all political stripes.
Who invited the Government to explain the process to the deputies and senators in the chamber was the president of the European affairs committee of the Irish parliament, the Labour Dominic Hannigan. The Labor Party is part of the current coalition government.
During the session, Roger Albinyana made a political assessment of the current situation and a forecast of S-27 and beyond. Albert Royo recalled the attempt of a new autonomy statute, frustrated by the Spanish Constitutional Court, major public movements, attempting to negotiate a referendum in Spain and the announcement of the 27-S in key elections plebiscites. 'There is great interest in knowing what happens to Catalonia with the process of independence. Hardly there will be no public statement until there is a democratic mandate, which could come after the election plebiscite ', said Royo VilaWeb.
After the exhibition had bilateral meetings with representatives of all the parties that are in the Irish parliamentary arc, and have learned that the S-27 could reach the democratic mandate for independence that would make both parliament Irish as some European parliaments made public pronouncements about the secession of Catalonia. The proposal would strengthen the civic list plebiscitary character, have told us. It is essential that the mandate be perceived as such. A list like this would be an element that would legitimize the interpretation plebiscitary 'he said. Royo added that Irish MPs also value the fact that the vote of 27-S complies with Spanish law.
According to Royo, Irish parliamentarians understand exactly what are elections plebiscite. British elections of 1918 were turned into a plebiscite de facto about the independence and elect deputies did not take the minutes to Westminster, it was first established in Dublin in the Irish parliament.
