TESCO signs deal with Trade Extensions
London, November 10, 2014 - Tesco has signed a 12 month multi-user license with online sourcing and optimisation specialist Trade Extensions to use its TESS™ platform for complex sourcing and data capture projects.
The platform will be used initially within Tesco’s UK, Ireland, Central Europe and Turkey and Asia businesses to source a range of direct and indirect categories and as the adoption of TESS develops there is the potential for billions of pounds to be allocated through the platform.
Tesco eSourcing Team Lead, Ian Chessell said, “The benefits of eSourcing are being more widely recognised, further increasing the need for the use of these tools within our business. Advanced sourcing and optimisation techniques are at the leading edge of eSourcing and will help deliver operational benefits to the business which is ultimately great news for our customers.”
Tesco has been using eSourcing techniques for over 14 years and recognises the benefits the technology delivers in terms of time savings, improving visibility of data and supporting standardised sourcing processes across different regions and businesses.
In addition to sourcing goods and services through the platform Tesco plan to use TESS for data collection. Ian Chessell said, "eSourcing and optimisation software is becoming essential as information is captured and managed on a global basis. The platform allows our suppliers to upload information such as product ranges and availability, we can then optimise this data to identify the solutions that best fit our own strategic objectives."
Trade Extensions, CEO, Garry Mansell, said “It’s fantastic to be working with Tesco because it is clear from the rigorous selection process that they understand eSourcing and the benefits our platform’s optimisation capabilities can provide to its business.”
